When one hears the terms “Survival” or “Survival Gear”, you may immediately associate them with some cryptic End of Days Apocalypse scenario. While the items listed in our Survival section may help if it did come to that, there are a lot of every day practical uses for all of the products featured. One of the most crucial pieces of survival gear that everyone should have is Car Safety tools. Whether you are an avid off-roader or just looking for peace of mind, there is always a level of preparedness that could be made better.
One of the handiest devices we feature is the Elk Ridge Survival Kit w/ Pouch made by Master Cutlery. (https://gadgetsandgear.com/elk-ridge-survival-kit-...)Now, I myself am nowhere near an outdoorsy person, but even I must admit, this pouch is a good idea for everyone to have in their car. This kit contains a folding knife, a whistle with LED Light and compass, a Fire Starter with Striker and 5 feet of paracord. In the worst case scenario, imagine driving down a darkened road and you hit a patch of black ice. In the event of an accident, this pack could save your life! The knife could be used to cut your seatbelt or break the glass and the whistle with LED light could alert rescue workers to your location. While we certainly hope that none of our customers experience such a horrific scene, it’s always best to be prepared.
Another excellent tool to keep handy is the Xtreme Multi-Rescue Tool by Kroll International, LLC. (https://gadgetsandgear.com/xtreme-multi-rescue-tool/) This gadget is not only a great survival tool, but just an all-around great tool. It combines the safety elements of a Glass Breaker, Seatbelt Cutter, LED light, Saw Blade Knife and Straight Blade Knife with regular tools like 2 types of Screwdrivers, Pliers, Wire Cutters and a 9-piece Ratchet set. Top it all off with a Nylon holster to keep it all together and you have the ultimate multi-tool. This would make an amazing gift for any handy person in your life!
There are tons of different survival kits and tools to choose from and you don’t necessarily need one with all the bells and whistles to keep you safe. Something as small as the Columbia River ExiTool by Kroll International, LLC. (https://gadgetsandgear.com/columbia-river-exitool/) is useful enough to give you peace of mind. This 2.75” device provides a seatbelt cutter, window breaker, and LED flashlight which in the car safety scenario is really all you should have on you at all times. Car safety is not an idea to be taken lightly and in the event of an emergency, having a tool like this could be the most important decision you ever make.

Locking your door doesn’t always prevent theft. It’s possible that a determined burglar will simply break the glass and unlock the door from the inside. To increase your home security, consider installing double cylinder deadbolts.Double cylinder deadbolts require a key on both sides of the lock to get in and out of the house. Meaning even if a burglar does [...]
When you’re caught in an emergency situation or planning an extended camping trip, staying warm should be on the very top of your list. Why? Because whether you’re a seasoned survivalist or a novice camper, hypothermia is the #1 killer of people in the outdoors. Despite the belief that hypothermia solely occurs in temperatures below [...]

This may seem like an obvious one, but statistics show that 30 percent of burglaries are unforced entries – meaning people are leaving their windows and doors unlocked. Every year in North America, 3 to 5 people are killed in wild animal attacks, usually by sharks and bears. If you ever come face-to-face with a wild animal, the natural response is to bolt; but if you want to live, don’t! Fleeing from wild animals can trigger their predatory instinct – meaning you will [...]

Where there’s a will, there’s a way; and a committed burglar will always find a way. To increase your home security, start by thinking like a criminal. One of our most commonly asked questions regarding our security equipment is “Does this camera have audio?” or “Can I record Sound?” and unfortunately, the answer is typically “no”.
